How to restore data on another backup server or another machine

Ans: to restore data on another server all you need to have catalog files on disk. for this on other server you have to run a catalog job to recreate the catalogs on disk so that you can start with restore. But this is lengthy procedure.

So, it would be good if you have copy of this folder, so that in case of disaster, you can build a new server and copy this folder over to the new server and you will not need to run catalog operation separately . In short we have two copies of catalog, one on tape and one on disk. Catalogs on disk are required for restore. If lost, you can run catalog job on tape to get them back.
